Hello all, I have been prepping for my NETA 2 for some time now. This will be my third attempt taking the exam. My first attempt I had minimal study time and got a 388, the second attempt I got a 391. Both times I have slacked in the Safety and Electrical Testing Fundamentals and Theory. I feel the exam struggle I have had is not comprehending the wording of the exam, I believe I second guess and read wrong, which results in the wrong answer. The last two sections of the exam: Component Testing and Systems and Commissioning I got 75%-100% of the answers in that section correct.
For the safety and Electrical Testing Fundamentals and Theory I am around the 50% or slightly higher mark. I believe I am either studying wrong or approaching the exam incorrectly. It seems no matter how much I study the material stumps me. In the field I understand the information fully, performing my testing with the appropriate NETA manual open besides me.
I have been provided study materials from pers NETA 3 and higher, but I feel like this exam is more of a guesstimate, instead of a proof of knowledge. I have an associates in electrical engineering tech, originally starting in Electrical Engineering (2-1/2 years of Engerineering school) and I am approaching 3 years of field testing with lots of overtime, storm trouble, and E-Calls and/or troubleshooting experience (the area I feel I thrive in)
Any advice to tackle this exam and get it behind me would be great! Thanks, for the information!
