Just passed my NETA 2 exam

I know everyone’s experience varies depending on which version of the test they get, but mine was heavily focused on visual mechanical inspection, test result analysis, and a fair amount of math. There was very little on safety, which honestly surprised me based on what I had heard/read beforehand.

The biggest advice I can give is to read each question carefully—pay close attention to wording and especially the units being used. Use scientific notation where it makes sense, and don’t overthink things. I caught myself second-guessing a lot because some of the questions felt almost too simple—like “what device measures voltage?” or “how many leads does a DLRO have and what does it measure?”

Also, from my experience, the practice tests on TestGuy were noticeably harder than the actual exam. I had been taking the ETT Level 2 quizzes for the past couple of weeks and was consistently scoring in the 60–70% range, so don’t let those scores discourage you.

If anyone has questions or wants help preparing, I’m more than happy to share what I can.

Im going to be taking my NETA exam too and was wondering if you have some more help or questions you remember.

A lot of the questions were specific to NETA ATS/MTS inspection and test procedure sections. I would definitely brush up on things that you don’t have much experience dealing with. From what I remember most of the questions I got were about circuit switchers, disconnect switches, Fuses, etc. I got maybe 5-10 questions where they gave me test results most of the time contact resistance or power factor measurements and asked me if they would pass according to either ATS/MTS standards. If you read over the ATS/MTS inspection and test procedure sections and specifically the “test values - electrical” portion you will be okay. My test also included a lot of math. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHrsFfbT_9s&t=39s covers damn near all of the math you need to know. Everything that was covered in this video was on my test. Good luck!

I’m taking my NETA 3 on the 20th, and whether I pass or not I will come back and give a similar update for that exam as well.

Just re-read this, quick correction. Engineering notation is what I meant, not scientific. I am a fool.
