Just passed my NETA Level 2 exam. Some notes for anybody studying:
I took a lot of Test Guy exams and would say it helped with about 25-35% of the problems I saw.
More ATS than MTS on my exam with regards to visual and mechanical questions. You can use process of elimination for most of them. READ THE QUESTIONS CAREFULLY! If the question asks for a visual test, the answer probably isn’t a mechanical check.
I probably had 10-15 math questions. Basic stuff. Hardest ones were calculating voltage drop over an inductor in a RL circuit and determining pickup currents on CTs.
I only had one device number question.
Know the function of different devices (reclosers, switches, circuit breakers, line sectionalizers) and how they are employed in transmission and distribution systems.
Know how to check your non-contact voltage detector.
Know glove ratings and Table 100.1.
I had a question about results for TTR as well as how to connect it given a schematic of a 3-phase transformer. (I didn’t study this but was able to process of eliminate the answers down to one answer.)
I had one question regarding breaker size for a Level 2 EV charging station.
There are also some free quizzes on this link. Some of the answers and explanations are incorrect but it is a helpful tool I used to study.
It is a long test and I was pretty over it after I finished all the questions but am glad I went back through all my answers because I ended up changing about a third of them and caught some easy math mistakes. Good luck to everyone taking it!
